This 7-day itinerary takes you deep into both South and North Luangwa National Parks on foot, walking between remote bush camps in the company of some of Africa's most experienced walking guides. The journey begins in South Luangwa, where game drives and introductory walks acclimatise you to the bush. Then comes the real adventure: a charter flight to North Luangwa, one of Africa's most remote and least-visited national parks. Here, with no permanent roads and virtually no other visitors, you walk through pristine wilderness that has remained unchanged for millennia. Your route follows the Mwaleshi River, crossing open floodplains where buffalo herds graze, threading through miombo woodland where elephants browse, and camping on the riverbank where lion roars echo through the night. Each day's walk covers 10-15 kilometres at a relaxed pace, with frequent stops to observe wildlife, identify tracks, and learn about the ecosystem from your guide. Accommodation alternates between comfortable bush camps and lightweight mobile fly camps set up by your walking crew, who travel ahead each day. The sense of freedom and connection to nature is profound — this is how the first humans experienced the African bush, and walking here reconnects you to that ancient heritage.
